Team Linear takes on the 2026 MACA Cancer 200

Seven years, 200 kilometres and one reason to keep riding

Team Linear returned to the MACA Cancer 200 – Ride for the Perkins, continuing a seven-year commitment to supporting cancer research in Western Australia.

After 200 kilometres from Perth to Mandurah and back, four Team Linear riders crossed the finish line of the 2026 MACA Cancer 200 with plenty of kilometres in their legs and an even stronger reminder of why they were riding.

Held over 17–18 October, the event brought together close to 1,700 riders, united by a shared purpose: raising funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

For Team Linear, it marked our seventh year supporting a cause closely connected to who we are.

Four riders, many reasons to ride

This year, Jayden Rogers, Zelda Herbst, Andre Herbst and Edwin Tan represented Team Linear.

They rode alongside cancer survivors and people supporting or remembering loved ones affected by cancer. Every rider had their own reason for taking on the challenge.

For Zelda, some of the most powerful moments put the physical challenge of the Ride firmly into perspective.

“One moment that really stayed with me was seeing every single rider raise their hand when asked if cancer had touched their life or someone they love. Later, when the road felt long and my legs were tired, I’d see a Yellow Flag Rider ahead, someone who has faced or is facing cancer themselves. It instantly put my own challenge into perspective. We have a finish line after 200 kilometres. For many people living with cancer, that finish line is far less certain.”

“Hearing the stories of those battling cancer, those who have survived and those who have lost loved ones is really moving and inspiring. It makes the challenge of riding more than 200 kilometres pale in significance to what people are going through.”

That connection also extends to why Linear continues to support the Ride.

“Linear is part of the Perkins group and we share a collective vision to see a better world where transformative therapies are available to all. Tackling cancer takes a coordinated effort, and the more we align within the Perkins group and with our partners, the better chance we have of fighting cancer.” said Jayden.

After seven years, Team Linear’s participation is more than a one-off fundraising activity. It has become a meaningful part of our connection with the Perkins and the wider cancer research community.

More than $9 million for cancer research

Together, riders in the 2026 MACA Cancer 200 raised more than $9 million for cancer research at the Perkins, contributing to more than $90 million raised across the Ride’s 15-year history.

It’s an extraordinary collective achievement made possible by riders, volunteers, supporters, organisations and sponsors across the community.

Team Linear couldn’t do it alone either. A big thank you to Perth Radiological Clinic and Sonic Clinical Trials for their generous support of our team and participation in this year’s Ride.

Who’s joining us next year?

Seven years in, we’d love to see Team Linear continue to grow.

Whether that means getting on a bike, volunteering on the day, supporting a rider or encouraging someone else to get involved, there are plenty of ways to be part of it.

Because you don’t have to ride 200 kilometres to have a reason to get involved.
